Description
Flecker's hard alder grows to a large shrub or small tree and lives below rainforest canopy of the Wet Tropics. Neostrearia fleckeri is the only species in the genus and is only found in the Wet Tropics of Queensland.
Cultivation
Neostrearia fleckeri will grow well in a shady, moist spot in a tropical garden. It can be grown from fresh seed or cuttings; the latter flowering earlier.

neo = new, ostrearia = the closely related genus Ostrearia
fleckeri = Hugo Flecker, North Queensland plant collector
