Description
Little penda is closely related to Cairns' floral emblem the golden penda. It occurs naturally in a small area along the Daintree and Bloomfield rivers at low altitude. An easily accessible population can be found growing in the Bloomfield river near the base of the falls. .
Cultivation
The little penda grows well in full sun and partial shade. It requires plenty of water and grows from seed or cuttings. This attractive shrub flowers sporadically throughout the year. As the little penda only grows to about 2m in height in cultivation, it makes a great container plant.

xanthos = yellow, stemon = stamens
verticillatus = leaves in whorls
